A Tree of Flesh

​

A patchwork of descriptions of images and experiences, cast into a loose narrative structure form the basis of the song 'A Tree of Flesh'. A (wo)man ends up in a strange world, is dragged along and gradually flooded with all kinds of images and events. Central and inescapable is the intoxicating tree of flesh, under whose branches fate can take strange turns and a mythical king figure desperately tries to retain his power.

 

With this text as a starting point, a group was formed under the name ‘The Black King’ in which Nathan

Ysebaert (Shht), Fenne Kuppens (Whispering Sons) and Ewoud Vaneetvelde (Yamantau) in collaboration

with me are interpreting, transforming and performing the text musically.
