Opgaan in het Woud (2016)

This series of self-portraits/landscapes was created during cold winterly evenings and nights in the Belgian Ardennes.

Surrounded by the silence of the woods, I discovered a part of myself fascinated by the forest’s magical properties and the countless stories it harbours.

I placed my body — small, fragile, and quietly gazing into the depths of the trees.

For me, the work speaks of longing: a desire to merge with nature,
to feel the soil, the night air, ... and the tender beauty of the human body beneath the trees.

In these nocturnal images, darkness and light become equal partners.
