Opgaan in het Woud (2016)

​

This series of self-portraits/landscapes was created during cold winterly evenings and nights in the Belgian Ardennes.


Surrounded by the silence of the woods, I discovered a part of myself fascinated by the forest’s magical properties and the countless stories it harbours.

​

I placed my body — small, fragile, and quietly gazing into the depths of the trees.


For me, the work speaks of longing: a desire to merge with nature,
to feel the soil, the night air, ... and the tender beauty of the human body beneath the trees.

​

In these nocturnal images, darkness and light become equal partners.
