Rebirth Ritual (2023)

Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto has long championed the idea of a societal “rebirth” through his symbol of the Troisième Paradis (Third Paradise): a reinterpretation of the infinity sign composed of three interconnected circles, representing nature, artificial (human-made) and the regenerative space between them.

This symbol anchors the “Rebirth Day” movement: an annual global event on 21 December inviting communities, institutions and individuals to pause, reflect and co-create new social forms and connections.

I was invited to co-create a new form for this ritual, for all the employees of the Parc du Cinquantenaire.

 

We crafted a beautiful moment of silence and connection under the majestic arch, right when the sun showed itself for a brief moment, using sound, burning herbs and movement exercices.
